The WIL Spine (Work Integrated Learning Spine) is a program at Swinburne University of Technology designed for engineering students. It consists of a series of scaffolded units that students must complete as part of their Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree. The program emphasizes hands-on, real-world experience by involving students in industry-linked projects each semester.

A WIL Spine unit:

– Centers learning around an industry project with a project scoped with an industry or community partner.
– Supports students to complete the industry project by developing professional skills.
– Has authentic assessment (can be individual, group or a combination).
– Has NO exams.
– Follows Swinburne’s blended learning principles.
